[ Law Enforcement %26 Police ] Open Question : i was recently ticketed for careless driving in charleston, SC?
i am actually kind of disturbed at the notion that a cop can arbitrarily decide that a passing motorist should pay the city $250 for just being a driver. I am a us marine, and where i don't think that that comes with some sort of "get out of jail free card" i do have values that i hold very dear, such as honor, courage and commitment. for fellow marines, you know what i'm talking about. anyway, a cop coming down a road that runs perpendicular to the road i was travelling on said that he clocked me doing 50 in a 35 with same way radar. 1st- i was under the impression that same way meant that he would have to have been behind me, 2nd-there is absolutely no way i was going that fast because the road that the cop was coming from runs parallel to the railroad tracks that i had to slow down to 15 to cross because of their extremely rough nature. i need to know what i should do to try to fight this. the cop said its a $250 fine, which is complete BS for something that i absolutely know i did not do. any help or advise will be greatly appreciated
